FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a boating license or certification? +
Washington State requires boater education for anyone born after January 1, 1955. Boatsetter verifies compliance during booking. If you're unsure, check the Washington State Parks boater education page before you book.
Is fuel included in the rental price? +
Fuel is not included. You'll depart with a full tank and are responsible for returning the boat at the same fuel level. We'll point you toward the nearest fuel dock for your launch location.
Can I bring alcohol on the boat? +
Yes — drinks are welcome aboard. The one rule: no red wine (upholstery protection). Beer, white wine, canned cocktails, and everything else is fair game. The operator may not consume alcohol while driving.
How many people can come? +
The Float Fund holds up to 9 passengers total, including the captain. Go bareboat and all 9 spots are yours. Add the optional captain and you'll have 8 guest spots.
Where do we launch from? +
We tow the Float Fund to public launch ramps on Lake Washington and Lake Union. We're finalizing our standard tow locations — email [email protected] to arrange the best spot for your trip.
Can I add a captain if I'm not comfortable driving? +
Absolutely. Add an optional captain for $100 at checkout on Boatsetter. The Float Fund is bareboat by default, but if you'd rather leave the helm to someone else and just enjoy the ride, that option is right there.
What if the weather is bad on my booking day? +
Cancel at least 24 hours before your trip for a full refund. We monitor conditions and will reach out proactively if things look unsafe. Trip assurance is also available at Boatsetter checkout for added coverage.
Is the security deposit refundable? +
Yes — the $500 deposit is held at booking and released after your trip once the boat is returned in the same condition. Boatsetter manages the process on both ends.
